July 23, 2006 – Practice Wedding Cake
Title: Perriwinkle Blue.
My friend had requested that I make her a practice wedding cake. She really didn’t need one, but she was ordering it out of fun. She wanted periwinkle with white. I just used normal “wilton” icing for this cake. As you can see, it wasn’t as refined as the other icing styles I have used. The cake was chocolate and I used white dragees. Delicious.

Title: Simple Wedding
This cake was made with Italian Meringue Buttercream Icing. I remember the icing tasting FANTASTIC and rich. Andy about choked on it when he first tried it. The cake was a white layer cake. The rose on the top was made from modeling chocolate instead of fondant. As you can see, the modelling chocolate was either more condusive to modeling, or I was just better my second time. P.S. The rose also tasted delicious.

Title: Full of Whimsy
I don’t even remember what was in the cake or what flavor the cake was, but I do know that this was my first time working with fondant and that I was very frustrated that I could not get my rose to turn out well. Oh well, practice makes perfect, as they say. And the fondant wasn’t as smooth over the cake as I would have liked. I ended up having to patch a few areas because I could not get the fondant to mold to the cake. I do remember the cake tasting delicious.
